untitled # 1

it starts with the letting go
there isn't much else to know
still we make a world of labels
just to pass the time

and when compromised by fear
common sense may disappear
so we make a world of fables
pretty them with rhyme

so the children will believe
the ways that we deceive
ourselves in our world of cables
in search of the divine

addicted, or so it seems
to dreaming impossible dreams
what we bring to our tables
is only bread and whine

still we fight to make more of nothing
cuz we're afraid to embrace the something
so fiercely we avoid the real
we forget we know how to feel

and we live in the lie that is holy
and we become wasted roly-poly
so we don't have to touch the skin
of the body we're living in

and spiritually sanctified
to be desensitized
we become homogenized
and then weakly feign surprised

when our individuality
lost in our great conformity
magnificent society
malevolent insanity
malignant hypocrisy
